Dell H-Series director-class switches offer 768 ports in 32-port increments, each delivering 100 Gbps of performance and extending to 19.2 Tb/s (Tb/s) of aggregated bandwidth. With advanced features such as power, fabric, management module redundancy, component-level diagnostics and alerting, and out-of-band management, Intel OPA switches support high availability in an integrated manner.
 
Innovative features take structural flexibility and usability to new heights without compromising performance. For example, the Packet Integrity Protection (PIP) feature enables high packet reliability with latency-free error checking and link-level recovery. If the physical path fails, Dynamic Lane Scaling (DLS) maintains 75% of the link bandwidth, so the HPC workload can be smoothly completed by the deadline.

H-series switches help minimize the negative performance impact of large transmission units (MTUs) on small messages, and also help ensure interprocess communication (IPC) when sending large messages (usually when storing messages) within a fabric (eg The Message Passing Interface [MPI] message gets a consistent delay. This will enable the switch to bypass large packets of lower priority, allowing smaller packets of higher priority, resulting in more predictable low latency across the fabric.
 
To help reduce latency, error detection and correction enhancements cover zero detection load. If correction is required, the system retransmits the packet from the last link location instead of the sending node.
