Simplified, flexible deployment
Deploy the M6505 as a Brocade Access Gateway or an all-fiber switch.
Access Gateway mode uses the N_Port ID Virtualization (NPIV) switch standard to expose physical and virtual servers directly to the SAN fabric core. This makes the access gateway transparent to the SAN structure, which can greatly reduce the management of the network edge. In Access Gateway mode, the Brocade M6505 can connect servers to the NPIV-enabled Brocade B-Series, Brocade M-Series, and other SAN fabrics.
Dynamic on-demand add-on ports (PODs) provide a flexible mechanism for you to assign purchased port licenses to extend the basic functionality of Brocade switches. These additional ports are enabled when the appropriate license key is installed. The Dynamic POD feature assigns a port license based on your connection options. Any port on the switch can get a freely allocated license from the pool of available POD licenses.
